Risk Management Consultant Jobs in Rhode Island: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a risk management consultant in Rhode Island?
The standard path in Rhode Island begins with a bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field, followed by entry-level work in insurance, compliance, or internal audit at one of the state's major financial or healthcare employers. Risk management consulting in Rhode Island does not require a state-issued license, but earning a recognized credential such as the RIMS Certified Risk Management Professional or the Associate in Risk Management strengthens candidacy considerably with local employers.
How much do risk management consultants make in Rhode Island?
Risk management consultants in Rhode Island earn a median of about $104,470 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $59,290 for the lowest 10% to over $186,580 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire risk management consultants in Rhode Island?
Employers hiring risk management consultants in Rhode Island right now include Citizens, CVS Health, and Fidelity Investments, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Rhode Island's concentration of insurance carriers, hospital systems, and defense manufacturers means demand is particularly consistent across the financial services and healthcare sectors.
Which Rhode Island cities have the most risk management consultant jobs?
Johnston, Providence, and Smithfield account for the largest share of risk management consultant openings in Rhode Island. Providence anchors the market as the state's commercial and financial center, home to major insurers, hospital networks, and professional services firms, while Warwick and Cranston draw additional demand from regional corporate headquarters and insurance operations located outside the capital.
Are there remote risk management consultant jobs in Rhode Island?
Yes, and more than many professional services roles, since much of the work involves data analysis, report writing, and stakeholder presentations that translate well to remote environments. About 60% of risk management consultant openings tied to Rhode Island are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broader trends in analytical consulting. Regulatory compliance and enterprise risk advisory work tend to be the most remote-accessible specialties within the field.
How can I get hired as a risk management consultant in Rhode Island with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a risk-adjacent role first, such as compliance analyst, internal auditor, or insurance underwriter at one of Rhode Island's large employers in the insurance or healthcare sector. Firms like Amica Mutual and regional hospital networks periodically hire analysts at the junior level who rotate into risk functions. Pursuing the Associate in Risk Management credential early and building a portfolio of risk assessment projects strengthens your candidacy before applying directly to consultant roles.
Where can I find and apply to risk management consultant jobs in Rhode Island?
You can find and apply to risk management consultant jobs in Rhode Island on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings in the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your background and target specialties, and apply directly to those positions.
