Title: Maintenance Engineering Technician
Location: Greenfield, IN 46410 (On-Site)
Job Type: Contract (6 Months) with potential for extension or direct hire based on performance and business needs
Schedule: First Shift, Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Overtime: Occasional Saturday overtime (4–6 hours as needed)
Position Overview
One of our clients is seeking a skilled and hands-on Maintenance Engineering Technician to provide technical support across maintenance and engineering functions. This role will serve as a key liaison between Maintenance and Engineering teams, supporting manufacturing operations through troubleshooting, process improvements, equipment programming, automation support, and project execution. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience with CNC machinery, PLC programming, robotics, and industrial automation systems, along with the ability to support both production and maintenance initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Maintenance teams in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical equipment issues.
- Support manufacturing process optimization across machining, assembly, packaging, and logistics operations.
- Program, install, commission, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain robotic systems, CNC equipment, PLCs, and related automation technologies.
- Collaborate with Engineering teams to design, test, validate, and improve manufacturing processes.
- Assist with new equipment installations, startup activities, and machine programming.
- Develop, update, and maintain manufacturing process documentation, including work instructions, routings, setup sheets, standard work, and time studies.
- Evaluate proposed manufacturing changes for feasibility, operational impact, and implementation effectiveness.
- Manage multiple projects and technical assignments while meeting established deadlines.
- Partner with Maintenance, Operations, Quality, Materials, Purchasing, and other departments to support operational excellence.
- Participate in safety programs, risk assessments, training initiatives, and compliance activities.
- Maintain clear communication with team members and management regarding project status, equipment issues, and improvement opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in a Maintenance Engineering Technician, Maintenance Technician, Controls Technician, Automation Technician, or similar manufacturing role.
- Technical education in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Technology, or a related field; equivalent military, trade school, or technical training will also be considered.
- Strong experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting; CNC machinery and program modifications; Robotics and automation systems; Industrial controls and electrical systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex equipment and process issues.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, process documents, maintenance manuals, and technical specifications.
- Comfortable working hands-on with manufacturing equipment and automation systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with industrial automation platforms and equipment such as Allen-Bradley PLCs, Fanuc Robotics, ABB Robotics, Yaskawa Robotics, Keyence Systems, Murata Equipment, Hurco CNC Machines.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs.
- Understanding of industrial networking concepts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
