- Review contractor inspection records, quality documentation, and installation reports for accuracy and completeness to support commissioning and qualification readiness
- Monitor field conditions (housekeeping, temporary barriers, dust control, access management) to ensure compliance with project and GMP standards
- Maintain field observation logs tracking installation progress, coordination risks, and potential issues
- Report CSA installation status, open technical issues, and emerging risks to project leadership
- Participate in project coordination meetings, communicating observations and interface conflicts between CSA and other disciplines (MEP, process, IT, fire protection)
- Review CSA-related RFIs and technical queries with engineering SMEs to ensure alignment with design intent
- Participate in system walkdowns and completion inspections, documenting deficiencies and supporting punch list verification and closure
- Verify CSA turnover documentation packages, including as-builts and inspection records
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Construction Engineering
- 10+ years of field experience supporting CSA scope delivery on large pharmaceutical/GMP-regulated construction projects
- Strong technical understanding of civil works, structural systems, equipment foundations, underground utilities, and building envelope construction
- Experience with cleanroom architectural finishes and controlled environment construction requirements
- Strong knowledge of IBC, ACI, AISC, and OSHA standards
- Experience supporting construction verification, system inspections, walkdowns, punch list management, and turnover readiness
- Strong understanding of GMP construction expectations and documentation requirements
- Ability to identify and communicate technical risks and installation deviations in a multi-discipline project environment
- Strong collaboration skills across engineering, contractor, commissioning, and leadership teams

Construction Engineer Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a construction engineer in Indiana?
To become a construction engineer in Indiana, you need a bachelor's degree in civil or construction engineering from an ABET-accredited program, followed by passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam to earn an Engineer-in-Training designation. After accumulating qualifying experience under a licensed Professional Engineer, you apply for a PE license through the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. Many Indiana employers also value OSHA safety training and familiarity with INDOT project delivery standards.
How much do construction engineers make in Indiana?
Construction engineers in Indiana earn a median of about $98,270 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $64,200 for the lowest 10% to over $140,130 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire construction engineers in Indiana?
Companies currently hiring construction engineers in Indiana include NiSource, STERLING, and ERMCO, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Indiana's manufacturing base, active INDOT transportation program, and ongoing industrial facility development keep demand from both private engineering firms and public-sector owners consistently strong.
Which Indiana cities have the most construction engineer jobs?
Indianapolis, Evansville, and Greenfield have the most construction engineer openings in Indiana. Indianapolis leads because it anchors the state's largest infrastructure investment, commercial real estate activity, and corporate headquarters, while Fort Wayne and Evansville generate steady demand through regional manufacturing expansion, utilities work, and INDOT district offices that manage construction projects throughout northern and southwestern Indiana.
Are there remote construction engineer jobs in Indiana?
Yes, but they're rare. Construction engineering is fundamentally a site-based discipline, so most roles require regular field presence. About 0% of construction engineer openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions typically involve the office-side work of the role, such as design review, cost estimating, scheduling, and document control rather than active site supervision.
How can I get hired as a construction engineer in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a staff or project engineer role at a mid-size Indiana engineering firm, where new graduates work alongside licensed PEs on INDOT contracts or commercial projects. Firms like Crossroads Engineers and Hagerman Group have historically brought on new grads into rotational field and office assignments. An Engineer-in-Training designation from passing the FE exam significantly strengthens an application, and internships completed through Purdue University, Indiana University, or IUPUI co-op programs are recognized qualifications that large Indiana employers actively recruit from.
