Maintenance Engineer – Extended Stay Hotel

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our Extended Stay America hotel team. This position is responsible for maintaining the hotel’s guest rooms, common areas, building systems, and equipment to ensure a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for our guests and employees.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who takes pride in their work, responds quickly to maintenance requests, and understands the importance of providing excellent guest service.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance throughout the hotel.
• Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests.
• Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, doors, locks, lighting, and other building systems.
• Maintain guest rooms, including repairs to fixtures, furniture, appliances, bathrooms, and other amenities.
• Perform painting, drywall repairs, carpentry, and general property maintenance as needed.
• Monitor and maintain HVAC, hot water, electrical, and other mechanical systems.
• Assist with pool, laundry, kitchen, and other hotel equipment maintenance where applicable.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and repairs.
• Identify potential safety hazards and address issues promptly.
• Follow all hotel safety procedures, local regulations, and company standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized maintenance shop and work areas.
• Assist with emergency situations and after-hours maintenance needs when required.
• Communicate professionally with guests, housekeeping, front desk, management, and outside contractors.

Qualifications

• Previous hotel, apartment, commercial building, or facilities maintenance experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general repairs.
• Ability to use common hand and power tools safely.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Good communication and customer-service skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests.
• Must be able to lift, carry, bend, climb ladders, and perform physical maintenance tasks.
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, and an occasional on-call or emergency schedule as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of maintenance or facilities experience.
• Previous hotel or extended-stay property experience.
• HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or other technical certification.
• Experience with preventive maintenance programs.
• Basic computer skills for maintenance logs and work orders.
