Corporate Maintenance Engineer

Travel: Approximately 30–60% domestic travel

About the Role

Southwark Metal is seeking a senior, hands-on Corporate Maintenance Engineer to provide technical leadership and troubleshooting support across our seven manufacturing facilities.

This is not primarily an administrative role. We are looking for a technically strong maintenance professional who has earned the respect of mechanics, understands how to diagnose and repair equipment, and enjoys teaching others.

The ideal candidate has progressed from mechanic/technician → supervisor → manager → regional, corporate, engineering, or multi-site maintenance leadership and can move comfortably between hands-on troubleshooting, technical consultation, coaching, and reliability improvement.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical & Hands-On Support

• Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support to maintenance teams across seven facilities.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, and automation issues.
• Work alongside mechanics and technicians to identify root causes and implement lasting solutions.
• Coach and teach maintenance teams to improve their technical capabilities.
• Guide proper maintenance, repair, and operation of manufacturing equipment.

Equipment & Reliability

Support a broad range of sheet metal manufacturing equipment, including:

• Coil processing and roll forming equipment
• Hydraulic and mechanical presses
• Coil-fed presses and elbow machines
• Laser cutting equipment
• CNC press brakes
• PLCs, automation, and related control systems

Develop and improve preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, eliminate recurring equipment failures, and improve equipment uptime and reliability.

Multi-Site Leadership

• Travel to plants to support major equipment issues, projects, and reliability initiatives.
• Partner with plant managers, maintenance leaders, mechanics, engineering, production, and vendors.
• Standardize successful maintenance practices across the network.
• Identify and coordinate appropriate vendors, contractors, parts, tools, and technical resources.
• Establish critical spare-parts strategies and support parts rationalization.
• Support equipment installations, upgrades, and improvement projects.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for hands-on technical expertise and leadership experience, not simply a particular degree or job title.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Significant industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience.
• A career progression from technician/mechanic into maintenance leadership and eventually regional, corporate, engineering, or multi-site responsibility.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, and automation troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with roll forming, coil processing, presses, or other metal-forming equipment.
• Experience with laser cutting and/or CNC press brakes is a plus.
• Strong root-cause analysis and equipment reliability experience.
• A track record of teaching, coaching, and developing maintenance teams.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to travel approximately 30–60%.

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field is preferred, but equivalent hands-on experience and technical expertise will be considered.
