Yes, but they're rare. Construction engineering is fundamentally a site-based role, so most positions require a physical presence on project sites. About 10% of construction engineer openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those tend to concentrate in estimating, BIM coordination, and project controls functions where the work is document- and data-driven rather than field-based.
How can I get hired as a construction engineer in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a field engineer or project engineer associate role with large general contractors such as Skanska USA or Turner Construction, both of which run structured new-graduate programs in New York. Internships coordinated through NYSDOT or the New York City Department of Design and Construction also build a verifiable portfolio. Earning your Engineer-in-Training credential early and targeting roles titled junior engineer, construction inspector, or estimating coordinator widens the door significantly.
