Quality Engineer Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a quality engineer in New York?
Most quality engineer roles in New York require a bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial technology, or a closely related field. New York does not mandate a state-issued license specifically for quality engineers, but ASQ certifications such as the Certified Quality Engineer designation carry significant weight with New York employers, particularly in aerospace, pharmaceuticals, and medical device manufacturing. Building hands-on experience through co-ops or internships with manufacturers in the Hudson Valley or Long Island region strengthens a candidate's profile considerably.
Which companies hire quality engineers in New York?
Employers hiring quality engineers in New York right now include Wolfspeed, Colliers Engineering & Design, and GlobalFoundries, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of aerospace primes, global pharmaceutical firms, and precision manufacturers on Long Island and in the Southern Tier means quality engineering roles appear across a wide range of industries and company sizes.
Which New York cities have the most quality engineer jobs?
New York, Rochester, and Albany have the most quality engineer openings in New York. New York City and its Long Island suburbs generate significant demand through pharmaceutical headquarters and aerospace contractors such as those concentrated in Bethpage, while Buffalo and Rochester support a strong manufacturing base in automotive components and optics that keeps quality roles consistently available outside the metro area.
Are there remote quality engineer jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Quality engineering is largely a hands-on discipline tied to production floors, inspection labs, and supplier sites, which limits full remote work. About 15% of quality engineer openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting that most positions require at least some on-site presence. The portions most likely to accommodate remote or hybrid schedules include documentation, audit coordination, and supplier quality management activities.
How can I get hired as a quality engineer in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a quality technician or inspector role, which large New York manufacturers regularly fill with candidates who hold a relevant degree or technical certificate. Employers such as medical device companies on Long Island and aerospace suppliers in the Hudson Valley often bring on associates through co-op and new-graduate pipelines. Pursuing an ASQ Certified Quality Improvement Associate credential before applying signals commitment and gives less-experienced candidates a measurable edge in a competitive market.
Where can I find and apply to quality engineer jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to quality engineer jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, find the positions that fit your background and location, and apply directly to the ones that match.
