Quality Engineer Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a quality engineer in Texas?
Most quality engineer roles in Texas require a bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering, though some employers accept related technical degrees. Texas does not issue a state-specific license for quality engineers, so the most recognized credential is the ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) credential, which signals core competency to Texas employers. Many candidates build toward the CQE while gaining hands-on experience in manufacturing, aerospace, or medical device environments.
Which companies hire quality engineers in Texas?
Employers hiring quality engineers in Texas right now include Apple, Amazon, and Applied Materials, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of aerospace, defense, semiconductor, and energy manufacturers means quality engineering roles appear across a wide range of industries and company sizes throughout the state.
Which Texas cities have the most quality engineer jobs?
Austin, Houston, and Dallas account for the largest share of quality engineer openings in Texas. Houston's oil and gas refining and medical device sectors, the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex's aerospace and defense contractors, and Austin's growing semiconductor and electronics manufacturing base collectively drive the majority of demand in the state.
Are there remote quality engineer jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Quality engineering is largely a hands-on, facility-based discipline, so most roles require on-site presence for inspections, audits, and production floor work. About 9% of quality engineer openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to involve supplier quality auditing, document control, or quality systems management rather than direct production oversight.
How can I get hired as a quality engineer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a quality technician or quality inspector role, which large Texas manufacturers in aerospace, automotive, and medical devices regularly hire for without requiring prior engineering experience. Companies such as Lockheed Martin and Texas Instruments run rotational and associate programs that move candidates into quality engineering functions. Pursuing the ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) credential before the full CQE, or completing coursework in statistical process control, gives candidates a clear edge when applying.
Where can I find and apply to quality engineer jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to quality engineer jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from Texas employers across Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, and beyond. Find roles that fit your experience and specialization and apply directly to the employer.
