Boiler Engineer Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a boiler engineer in Texas?
To work as a boiler engineer in Texas, you must hold a license issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which oversees the state's Boiler Program. Candidates typically complete a vocational or technical program in industrial mechanics, power plant technology, or a related field, then log supervised operating hours before sitting for the state licensing exam. Employers in the petrochemical and power generation sectors often expect an entry-level operator certificate before hiring.
Which companies hire boiler engineers in Texas?
Employers hiring boiler engineers in Texas right now include Williams & Davis Boilers, Georgia-Pacific, and Txu Energy Retail Company, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of refineries, chemical plants, and power generation facilities along the Gulf Coast and in the San Antonio corridor makes it one of the most consistent states for ongoing boiler engineer openings nationwide.
Which Texas cities have the most boiler engineer jobs?
Hutchins, Camden, and Irving have the most boiler engineer openings in Texas. Houston and Beaumont dominate because of the dense cluster of petrochemical refineries and industrial plants along the Gulf Coast, while San Antonio draws steady demand from its power generation facilities, large military installations, and growing manufacturing base that require continuous boiler operations.
Are there remote boiler engineer jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Boiler engineering is fundamentally a hands-on, on-site role requiring direct operation, inspection, and maintenance of physical equipment, so most positions require a physical presence at the plant or facility. About 0% of boiler engineer openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those tend to be project engineering, commissioning consulting, or technical review roles rather than day-to-day operating positions.
How can I get hired as a boiler engineer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a boiler operator or industrial mechanical technology program at a Texas community college, such as those offered through San Jacinto College or Lee College in the Houston area, then applying for entry-level boiler tender or plant utility operator roles at refineries and chemical plants. Earning your entry-level Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation boiler operator certificate before applying gives you a concrete credential that puts you ahead of candidates without it.
Where can I find and apply to boiler engineer jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to boiler engineer jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from employers across the state's petrochemical, power generation, and industrial manufacturing sectors. Find roles that fit your experience and credentials below and apply directly.
