JOB SUMMARY
As a Construction Engineer in the Chicago area, you’ll provide full-time on-site oversight for water and sewer infrastructure projects, ensuring contractor compliance, quality, and safety. You’ll coordinate daily construction activities, review submittals and pay applications, monitor schedules, and serve as a key liaison between the Owner, contractors, and project stakeholders to keep projects moving efficiently.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide full-time on-site construction oversight and contract administration
- Ensure contractor compliance with plans, specifications, permits, and safety requirements
- Coordinate daily construction activities and resolve field issues
- Review and approve submittals, and testing compliance
- Monitor construction schedule and notify the Owner of potential delays
- Review contractor pay applications and verify quantities and progress
- Prepare daily reports, meeting minutes, and progress documentation
- Coordinate inspections, testing, and acceptance of completed work
- Enforce quality control and workmanship standards
- Serve as liaison between Owner, Contractor, inspectors, and stakeholders
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related field
- 4-5+ years of experience in Resident Engineer activities and managing construction field teams on water and/or sewer infrastructure projects
- Experience with water and sewer construction projects, Project Management Procedures (PMP’s) and Project Management Guidelines (PMG’s) familiarity a plus
- Preferred Certifications, but not required: Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Professional Engineer (PE)
- Candidate must have reliable transportation
- Strong commitment to innovation by creating new and better ways to solve clients’ toughest challenges

- Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
T.Y. Lin International is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $90,000 - $110,000 annually for this position and local market.
