Description
Safety Field Engineer shall provide construction safety and health leadership and compliance oversight in support of the IHC Safety Program at the designated construction site(s).

Essential Functions and Responsibilities for Safety Field Engineer

• Monitor safety efforts of IHC employees and subcontractors
• Oversee the issuance and execution of “New Hire” safety documents and other division specific information/documents to all new IHC employees.
• Provide site specific safety orientation to all IHC employees working on the project site.
• Enforce the company safety rules and compliance regulations at the designated jobsite(s).
• Work closely with office and site management to ensure a safe and efficient working environment. (Optional Statement- will also work with subcontractors to ensure project safety compliance.)
• Provide direction to jobsite superintendents in safe work practices on the jobsite.
• Maintain, distribute, and demonstrate the use of all personal protective equipment.
• Conduct/Coordinate project safety “Tool Box” meetings with all IHC employees on a weekly basis
• Provide guidance and awareness training related to construction safety and facilitate safety meetings as needed.
• Conduct daily site safety inspections with recommendations for hazard abatement.
• Inspect and maintain fire prevention equipment and first-aid supplies.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses that occur on project and prepare written report of findings.
• Maintain accurate records, such as but not limited to, OSHA 300 Log and employee training logs.
• Assist in the management and implementation of the Drug Free Workplace Program including pre-employment, post accident, and random drug testing.
• Coordinate responses and compliance with requirements of inspection reports generated by IHC’s insurance company.
• Represent the company in a professional manner with subcontractors, compliance/regulatory officials, and owner representatives.

Preferred Certifications and Skills for Safety Field Engineer

• Certified Safety Trained Supervisor(STS), and/or Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST).
• OSHA Certifications – OSHA 500(501,502,510), 30 Hour Card
• Working knowledge of all OSHA Construction Standards (29CFR 1926 and 1910)
• Possess training qualifications/certifications and knowledge of fall protection systems, excavation- trenching and shoring, confined space entry, cranes, ladders & stairs, scaffolding, electrical hazards, lockout/tagout, PPE
• Certified First Aid / CPR Trainer - American Red Cross
• Good written and oral communication skills. Ability to use judgment and experience to define, analyze, and resolve problems and issues.
• Computer Skills – MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Experience for Safety Field Engineer

• 3-5 years of construction safety in a progressive nature.
