Construction Coordinator Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a construction coordinator in Indiana?
Most Indiana employers require an associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering technology, or a closely related field as the baseline qualification. Indiana does not issue a state-specific license for construction coordinators, so the path runs through education and field experience rather than a board exam. Programs at Purdue University, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, and Ivy Tech Community College feed directly into coordinator roles. Earning a Construction Manager in Training designation through CMAA strengthens a candidate's profile considerably.
Which companies hire construction coordinators in Indiana?
Indiana construction coordinator roles are posted by CBRE, Superior, and Balance Claims and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Indiana's blend of large commercial contractors, healthcare system campus projects, and energy infrastructure work means openings appear across both general contractors and owner-side project teams.
Which Indiana cities have the most construction coordinator jobs?
Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, and Fishers lead Indiana in construction coordinator openings. Indianapolis dominates because of its concentration of corporate headquarters, hospital system expansions, and large-scale commercial development, while Fort Wayne and other markets benefit from manufacturing facility construction and regional infrastructure investment that keeps coordinator demand steady outside the capital.
Are there remote construction coordinator jobs in Indiana?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of construction coordinator openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how site-dependent the role is by nature. The parts of the work most likely to be done remotely are document control, RFI tracking, and submittal review, while scheduling walkthroughs and subcontractor coordination almost always require physical presence.
How can I get hired as a construction coordinator in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a project administrator or construction assistant role at a mid-size Indiana general contractor, where coordinators often come up from the administrative side. Employers like Pepper Construction and Shiel Sexton have historically hired recent graduates from Purdue or Ivy Tech into support roles that transition into coordinator work within a year or two. Completing an internship through CMAA's student chapter network or Ivy Tech's construction technology program gives candidates a measurable edge when applying.
Where can I find and apply to construction coordinator jobs in Indiana?
