Systems Integration Engineer Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a systems integration engineer in Indiana?
Most systems integration engineers in Indiana enter the field with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or systems engineering from a program accredited by ABET. Indiana does not require a state-issued license for most private-sector integration roles, but engineers who stamp designs or work on public projects must hold a Professional Engineer license issued by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. Earning certifications from vendors like Rockwell Automation or Siemens strengthens candidacy considerably for Indiana's manufacturing-heavy market.
Which companies hire systems integration engineers in Indiana?
Companies currently hiring systems integration engineers in Indiana include Eli Lilly, V2X, and Raytheon, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Indiana's concentration of defense contractors, automotive tier-one suppliers, and large-scale industrial manufacturers means that experienced integration engineers with clearance eligibility or PLC expertise tend to find the most consistent opportunities in the state.
Which Indiana cities have the most systems integration engineer jobs?
Indianapolis, Carmel, and Lebanon hold the most systems integration engineer openings in Indiana. Indianapolis dominates because it anchors the state's largest defense and advanced manufacturing cluster, while Fort Wayne and South Bend reflect the strong tier-one automotive supplier and industrial equipment base that runs through northern Indiana, where large facilities from companies like Raytheon, Cummins, and AM General drive ongoing integration hiring.
Are there remote systems integration engineer jobs in Indiana?
Yes, but they're rare. Systems integration engineers typically work hands-on with physical hardware, control panels, and plant-floor networks, which limits remote options significantly. About 0% of systems integration engineer openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to involve pre-deployment configuration, documentation, or software-side integration work rather than on-site commissioning.
How can I get hired as a systems integration engineer in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a controls technician or automation technician role at one of Indiana's large manufacturers, where hands-on PLC and wiring experience builds the foundation employers require. Companies like Cummins and Rolls-Royce run co-op and new-graduate programs through Purdue University and IUPUI that feed directly into junior integration engineering positions. Completing a Rockwell Automation certification or building a documented lab project integrating PLCs with an HMI gives entry-level candidates a measurable edge in Indiana hiring.
Where can I find and apply to systems integration engineer jobs in Indiana?
You can find and apply to systems integration engineer jobs in Indiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Indiana openings updated in real time. Search the roles that match your experience level and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit. No sign-up is required to see or apply to the listings.
