DESCRIPTION
Key job responsibilities
- Drive component qualification and second-source development to mitigate supply chain risks across the robotic product portfolio
- Investigate and resolve field issues on production electronics, performing root-cause analysis and implementing corrective design changes
- Own schematic and PCB design activities for sustaining engineering changes (ECOs), from concept through validation and release to manufacturing
- Partner with supply chain, commodity management, and contract manufacturers to evaluate alternate components and ensure design-for-supply resilience
- Develop and execute design verification and qualification test plans for component and board-level changes
- Support new product introduction (NPI) activities as needed, contributing to DFM/DFT reviews and production ramp
- Maintain documentation including specifications, test procedures, and qualification reports
- Collaborate cross-functionally with firmware, mechanical, reliability, and field engineering teams to keep the robotic fleet running
A day in the life
You might start the morning reviewing a component end-of-life notice, assessing impact across affected boards, and kicking off a second-source qualification plan. After a stand-up with the sustaining team, you dive into schematic changes for an alternate part, coordinate a test plan with the validation lab, and sync with the contract manufacturer on an open quality issue from the production line. You close the day triaging a field return with the reliability team, using failure analysis data to determine whether a design change is warranted. No two days are the same—but the throughline is keeping our fleet healthy and our supply chain ahead of disruptions.

Senior Level Robotics Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level robotics job?
Employers at this level look for engineers who have owned full system development cycles, not just contributed to them. Demonstrating that you have led hardware-software integration, shipped production robotics systems, and mentored junior engineers gives you a clear edge. A portfolio of deployed systems, patents, or published research strengthens your candidacy, and experience presenting technical tradeoffs to non-engineering stakeholders is increasingly expected.
Which companies hire senior level roboticss?
Companies hiring senior level roboticss right now include Amazon, Meta, and NVIDIA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a wide range of organizations, including defense contractors, automotive OEMs, industrial automation firms, and venture-backed startups scaling their autonomous systems teams.
Are there remote senior level robotics jobs?
Yes, though many roles require some on-site presence for hardware work and lab access. About 7% of senior level robotics openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with fully remote positions more common for roles focused on simulation, software architecture, perception algorithms, and robotics platform development rather than physical system integration.
What makes a robotics role senior level?
A senior level robotics role is defined by ownership of complex systems end to end, not just execution of assigned tasks. Expectations include making independent architectural decisions, setting technical direction for a project or product line, mentoring less experienced engineers, and interfacing with product and business stakeholders. The scope extends beyond individual contribution to shaping how a team or system evolves over time.
Which industries hire the most senior level roboticss?
Senior Level robotics roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Retail, and E-Commerce & Online Marketplaces, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they are deploying autonomous systems at scale, requiring engineers who can own complex integration challenges and deliver production-ready solutions across manufacturing, logistics, defense, and medical applications.
