- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Knowledge and design experience with Fire Alarm Systems and related manufacturers’ equipment, including VESDA systems
- Experience in the field installing, inspecting or testing fire alarm systems
- Familiarity with the following manufacturers: Notifier, Edwards, and Xtralis
- Knowledge of IBC, IFC, NFPA101 Life Safety Code and NFPA 72 Fire Alarm and Signaling Code
- Knowledge and application of NFPA 70 (NEC) and electrical design requirements
- Knowledge of general design and construction specifications
- At least 4 years of Autodesk Revit design experience
- Professional Engineering (PE) license
- Knowledge of NFPA 75, NFPA 76, NFPA 2001, and NFPA 13 codes
- Design experience in data centers
- Experience estimating and scheduling mid-to-large-scale projects
Responsibilities:
- Lead construction administration (CA) activities for life safety and fire alarm systems on data center projects, including a minimum of 25% travel to project job sites
- Perform preliminary assessments, concept development, design assistance, and technical design leadership for fire alarm, fire detection, fire suppression, smoke control, gas detection, and other life safety/low-voltage systems
- Conduct on-site punch walks, witness testing, inspections, construction observations, and design support throughout project construction
- Lead and coordinate designs with engineers, SMEs, BIM designers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other disciplines while resolving internal and external technical issues
- Prepare and review drawings, specifications, calculations, equipment sizes and quantities, network diagrams, and 2D/3D construction deliverables for constructible designs
- Apply IBC, IFC, NFPA 101, NFPA 72, NFPA 70, and other applicable life safety/fire codes and industry standards to ensure code-compliant designs and construction
- Interface directly with clients and state/local code officials, providing technical guidance, resolving issues, and supporting project requirements and approvals
- Serve as an Engineer of Record/project technical lead, provide guidance to team members, manage resources, mentor junior staff, and support project estimating, scheduling, and timely completion across multiple concurrent projects
