Safety Intern Jobs in Columbus: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a safety intern job in Columbus?
Targeting Columbus's dominant sectors gives you the strongest start. Construction firms active downtown and along the I-270 corridor, manufacturing operations in Groveport and Obetz, and hospital systems throughout the metro hire safety interns regularly. A background in occupational health coursework, OSHA 10 or 30 certification, and familiarity with incident reporting software sets candidates apart in Columbus's competitive internship market.
Which companies hire safety interns in Columbus?
Companies currently hiring safety interns in Columbus include State of Ohio, Peak Retirement Planning, and Burns & McDonnell, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Columbus's mix of large logistics operators, regional construction contractors, and healthcare systems creates consistent intern demand across multiple industries.
Are there remote safety intern jobs in Columbus?
Yes, though remote opportunities are limited by nature since most safety intern work involves on-site inspections, equipment checks, and hands-on hazard assessments. About 50% of safety intern openings tied to Columbus are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, typically covering administrative work. Documentation, compliance reporting, and training material development are the tasks most likely to be done remotely in Columbus-based roles.
How can I get a safety intern job in Columbus with little or no experience?
Pursuing OSHA 10 certification before applying is the single most realistic edge for entry-level candidates in Columbus. Large logistics and distribution centers in the Rickenbacker area, as well as regional construction firms working on Columbus's ongoing infrastructure projects, routinely hire interns with minimal experience if they show foundational safety knowledge. Volunteering with campus safety committees or shadowing local EHS coordinators also builds the practical exposure Columbus employers look for.
Which industries hire the most safety interns in Columbus?
Columbus safety intern roles concentrate in Retail, Technology & Software, and Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Columbus's position as a major logistics hub, combined with its large healthcare systems and active commercial construction sector, sustains consistent safety intern demand across those fields.
