Purpose of Position:
Diagnoses both mechanical and electrical issues, Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment using testing instruments, hand and power tools and precision-measuring instruments. Installs functional and structural parts in devices or equipment. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment. As needed, perform audits of facility security and utility services, repair and/or communicate issues. Maintain/issue and complete work orders, receive and make calls to outside suppliers of both replacement parts and technical services.
Position Description:
- Diversified work to include installation, leveling, ballbar, laser alignment, diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on a wide variety of machine tools, attachments and auxiliaries. Machines including, but not limited to, horizontal & vertical lathes, horizontal and vertical mills, shapers, hobs, cranes, and hoists
- Experience with and knowledge on maintenance and repair of older shapers & hobs (Fellows, Liebherr, Pfauter)
- Strong knowledge of Fanuc, Mazak (Mazatrol), Siemens, Okuma OSP, and Haas controls. Heidenhain a plus.
- Knowledge of Renishaw probing and ballbar systems
- Perform all of the machining, installation, maintenance repair and renovation operations for all equipment, hand tools and auxiliary equipment. Could include all HVAC, plant buildings, facilities and utilities.
- Install, service, diagnose and repair all electrical and electronic systems used on machines, machine tools and auxiliary equipment. Could include all HVAC, plant buildings, facilities and utilities
- Diagnose, disassemble, repair or replace parts, reassemble, align and adjust.
- Rig and install equipment as well as layout and install all required services for such equipment.
- Test equipment for proper mechanical and electrical functioning after repair, modification or installation.
- Required to have (preferred) or obtain Electrician License
- Know how to create, read, understand, work from, and document changes to schematics and drawings of various types. Includes blue prints, sheet metal drawings, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, electrical schematics, PLC writing diagrams, PLC programs and circuit diagrams.
- Perform all aspects of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic work on new equipment and machine rebuild projects, including documentation of work done. This includes installation and documentation of hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC wiring and programming, and mechanical systems.
- Diagnose, repair & upgrade all aspects of CNC equipment, including mechanical & electrical components.
- Deal with internal and external service, support and technical resources in the diagnosis, repair, and modification of any and all equipment. This includes requesting quotes on parts and service as necessary.
- Willingly participate in training programs outlined by the Company. Participation in these programs will include but are not limited to continued cross training between electrical and mechanical disciplines.
- Ability to cut, weld (Mig and Tig), and fabricate parts for machines, covers, guarding, etc.
- Perform necessary work including analytical troubleshooting and complex maintenance functions.
- Install and maintain a variety of electrical equipment such as motors, power and light circuits, starters and circuit breakers, diagnose electrical circuits, including solid state controls.
- Ability to read and understand hydraulic schematics and troubleshoot hydraulic problems on CNC equipment
- Must be able to use shop mathematics, charts, tables and handbook formulas.
- Use a wide variety of measuring instruments with knowledge machine tool operation, methods, & materials.
- Operate maintenance system to log maintenance activities
- Maintain safe and clean work area as well as promote and adhere to the 6s initiatives.
- Promote team concept and train new employees as well as instruct lower classification technicians
- Adhere to all safety procedures.
- Perform any other related duties as directed.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift, move, manipulate up to 35 lbs.
- Must be comfortable with heights
- Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time.
- Must pass PIE requirements to operate equipment
