School Nurse Jobs in Philadelphia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a school nurse job in Philadelphia?
Focus your search on the School District of Philadelphia, which is the largest single employer of school nurses in the city, alongside the dense network of charter schools, Catholic archdiocesan schools, and private academies throughout neighborhoods like Germantown, South Philadelphia, and Kensington. Candidates with pediatric or community health experience stand out, and familiarity with Philadelphia's high-need student populations and school health documentation systems gives a real competitive edge.
Which companies hire school nurses in Philadelphia?
Employers hiring school nurses in Philadelphia right now include BAYADA Home Health Care, School District of Philadelphia, and Merakey, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Philadelphia's market includes a wide range of employers, from large public school systems and charter management organizations to private Catholic and independent schools, pediatric health contractors, and community health nonprofits serving the city's diverse neighborhoods.
Are there remote school nurse jobs in Philadelphia?
Yes, but with significant limits: school nursing is a hands-on, on-site role by nature, so fully remote positions are rare. About 0% of school nurse openings tied to Philadelphia are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to be care coordination, telehealth triage, or school health consulting roles rather than traditional campus-based positions. Hybrid arrangements are most common in district-level administrative or program oversight roles.
How can I get a school nurse job in Philadelphia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Philadelphia is through a school health aide or student health technician role, which many charter school networks and the School District of Philadelphia use as a pipeline into full nursing positions. New graduate RNs with pediatric clinical rotations at Philadelphia-area hospitals or community health centers are also competitive. Volunteering with school-based health programs in underserved neighborhoods like North Philadelphia or Hunting Park can help build directly relevant local experience.
Which industries hire the most school nurses in Philadelphia?
Philadelphia school nurse roles concentrate in Education and Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Philadelphia's large public school system, extensive Catholic school network, and growing charter sector create a consistently active local market, and the city's pediatric health infrastructure, including major children's hospitals with school health outreach programs, adds further demand.
