The Manager of Research Security is tasked with developing and implementing security protocols to protect sensitive research data and facilities from potential threats. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of security measures and compliance standards to ensure the safety of personnel and the integrity of research activities. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.

Job Duty 1 -
Develop and implement comprehensive security policies and procedures to protect sensitive research data and facilities from unauthorized access and threats.

Job Duty 2 -
Stay current with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to research security to ensure compliance and best practices.

Job Duty 3 -
Collaborate with Information Technology and research teams to integrate security protocols into research processes and technologies.

Job Duty 4 -
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Duty 5 -
Conduct regular security assessments and audits to evaluate the effectiveness of existing security measures and identify areas for improvement.

Job Duty 6 -
Monitor security incidents and breaches, conduct thorough investigations and coordinating response efforts to mitigate risks.

Job Duty 7 -
Provide training and awareness programs for employees on security best practices and the importance of safeguarding research information.

Job Duty 8 -
Develop and maintain relationships with law enforcement and security agencies to enhance the organization's security posture and response capabilities.

Job Duty 9 -
Prepare and present reports on security incidents, risks, and compliance to senior management and relevant stakeholders.

Job Duty 10 -
Evaluate and recommend security technologies and solutions to improve the organization's overall security infrastructure.

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience
Three or more years of relevant experience, including one or more years of supervisory experience.

Additional Preferred Qualifications
management skills in addition to technical competence

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's Degree in related discipline or equivalent.

Preferred Experience
Six years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Working experience as a Top Secret Accountability Officer, Top Secret Control Officer, &/or Document Control Manager.
• Knowledge of DoDM 5200.01 Vol 1-3.
• Operational background in managing SAP/SCI requirements under Title 10 and Title 50 authorities.
• Knowledge of relevant systems, including SIMS, DISS, JADE, and Scattered Castles.
• Exceptional program and team management skills
• The ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effective and secure delivery of national security programs.
• Experience maintaining compliance with relevant regulations such as DoD 5205.07, ICD 704/705, SEADs, JSIG, and the NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117)
• Experience in preparing for government inspections and audits, and enforcing classification controls, risk management and access protocols

SKILLS
working knowledge of the requirements contained in the DoD National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual; require thorough knowledge of DISS, JADE, SIMS and Microsoft office products; superior verbal and written communications skills;

Salary Job Grade: R09
Salary range is dependent on candidates experiences and skills that ranges from $95,271.00 - $161,008.00.
Due to our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be U.S. Citizens.
