Security Manager Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a security manager in Georgia?
To become a security manager in Georgia you typically need a state-issued license from the Georgia Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies, which requires passing a background check, meeting experience thresholds, and completing the board's application for a manager or qualifying agent license. Most employers also expect a bachelor's degree in criminal justice or security management and a professional certification such as the Certified Protection Professional credential from ASIS International.
How much do security managers make in Georgia?
Security managers in Georgia earn a median of about $114,360 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $73,240 for the lowest 10% to over $191,200 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire security managers in Georgia?
Employers hiring security managers in Georgia right now include PwC, GardaWorld Security Services US, and DHL, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Georgia's large hospital systems, major logistics operators tied to the Port of Savannah, and Fortune 500 corporate campuses in metro Atlanta are among the most consistent sources of security manager openings statewide.
Which Georgia cities have the most security manager jobs?
Atlanta, Braselton, and Georgia account for the most security manager openings in Georgia. Atlanta dominates because of its concentration of corporate headquarters, healthcare systems, and major airports, while Savannah's volume is driven by port logistics and distribution operations, and Augusta benefits from military installations and a growing medical corridor that keep security demand steady year-round.
Are there remote security manager jobs in Georgia?
Yes, but they're rare. Security manager work is predominantly on-site because the role involves direct oversight of personnel, physical premises, and real-time incident response. About 43% of security manager openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to cover policy development, vendor management, or enterprise risk consulting functions that don't require a physical presence.
How can I get hired as a security manager in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving into a security supervisor or shift lead role first, which large Georgia employers like Emory Healthcare, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport contractors, and major hotel and hospitality groups regularly fill with candidates who hold a Georgia security officer license and a clean background. Completing an associate or bachelor's program in criminal justice at a Georgia institution strengthens your candidacy, and obtaining the ASIS International Associate Protection Professional designation signals readiness for management even without years of direct supervisory experience.
