Senior Mobile Developer Jobs in Kansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior mobile developer in Kansas?
Most senior mobile developers in Kansas reach the role through a combination of a bachelor's degree in computer science or software engineering and several years of progressive mobile development experience. Kansas does not require a state-issued license for software developers. Employers in Overland Park and Wichita typically expect a strong portfolio of shipped applications, demonstrated leadership on engineering teams, and proficiency in at least one major mobile platform before extending a senior-level offer.
How much do senior mobile developers make in Kansas?
Senior mobile developers in Kansas earn a median of about $113,420 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $71,690 for the lowest 10% to over $165,740 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior mobile developers in Kansas?
Companies currently hiring senior mobile developers in Kansas include T-Mobile, 360Care, and Bombardier, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Kansas's concentration of defense, aviation, and health IT employers means many of these openings sit inside larger technology organizations that support regulated industries.
Which Kansas cities have the most senior mobile developer jobs?
Wichita, Kansas City, and Overland Park have the most senior mobile developer openings in Kansas. Overland Park and the broader Kansas City metro drive the largest share of listings because of the region's dense cluster of financial technology, healthcare IT, and Fortune 500 technology centers, while Wichita contributes a meaningful volume through its aviation and defense contractors such as Garmin and Spirit AeroSystems.
Are there remote senior mobile developer jobs in Kansas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 29% of senior mobile developer openings tied to Kansas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how well mobile development translates to distributed team structures. The portions of the role most likely to stay fully remote are individual feature development and code review, while team leadership responsibilities at some Kansas employers still favor regular in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a senior mobile developer in Kansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is building a portfolio of personal or open-source mobile projects and targeting associate or mid-level developer roles at Kansas City-area technology companies or Wichita-based defense contractors, where rotational engineering programs at employers like Garmin serve as structured on-ramps. Moving laterally from a web or backend development role is common, particularly at health IT firms in Overland Park that often hire engineers willing to cross-train. Earning a recognized mobile development certification strengthens applications when direct mobile experience is limited.
Where can I find and apply to senior mobile developer jobs in Kansas?
