Overview
On the Fintech Invoicing & Payments team, we build the AI-native sales transaction experience for QuickBooks Online — the Platform where small businesses get paid. As a Senior Staff Software Engineer on the team, you will drive significant, end-to-end technology initiatives across both horizontal layers — from the React form a merchant sees to the MCP tool an agent calls to the GraphQL/STS write that lands in QuickBooks — executing with a boundaryless mindset and contributing well outside any single repo's ownership. The hard, domain-specific work here is making an LLM reliably and safely operate a real accounting system: writing tool descriptions and structured-content contracts precise enough that the model stops asking redundant clarifying questions yet never corrupts a ledger.
You'll partner across a highly matrixed set of stakeholders (Omni, the QBO monolith, payments, design, and external MCP-host partners) to translate customer behavior into durable, scalable, secure designs that balance short-term delivery against long-term architecture. Critically, you'll guide where AI genuinely helps and where it doesn't: you bring a deep, hands-on understanding of LLMs and prompt/tool-description engineering, agent orchestration (LangChain/LangGraph-style frameworks), and the evaluation tooling needed to validate accuracy and prevent regressions before they reach a customer's books.

Senior Level Senior Software Developer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level senior software developer job?
Employers at this level look for engineers who can own a system end-to-end, not just complete assigned tickets. Demonstrating that you have led a meaningful architectural decision, mentored junior developers, and delivered a project with measurable impact will set you apart. A portfolio showing scope and judgment, not just technical output, is what moves a senior candidate to the top of the shortlist.
Which companies hire senior level senior software developers?
Companies hiring senior level senior software developers right now include NVIDIA, Apple, and Speechify, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a wide range of employers, from established enterprise technology firms to high-growth product companies that need engineers who can operate with significant autonomy.
Are there remote senior level senior software developer jobs?
Yes, and remote availability is notably strong at this experience level. About 37% of senior level senior software developer openings are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how many employers trust senior engineers to lead distributed teams and deliver independently without requiring daily on-site presence.
What makes a senior software developer role senior level?
Senior level roles are defined by scope and ownership, not just years of experience. A senior software developer is expected to drive technical design, make independent architectural calls, and take accountability for outcomes across a feature or system. Mentoring mid-level and junior engineers, contributing to hiring and code standards, and influencing the broader engineering roadmap are all part of the expectation at this stage.
Which industries hire the most senior level senior software developers?
Senior level senior software developer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Electronics & Hardware, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they depend on engineers who can own complex systems, scale infrastructure, and lead technical decisions that directly affect product and business outcomes.
