Purpose of the Position
Advances Simmons Foods information management capabilities by managing all aspects of Simmons Foods and its Affiliates applications, to meet the needs of the company, including their design, development, deployment, maintenance and administration.
Essential Position Responsibilities - This is a Salary Exempt position.
Develops Applications: Coordinates software and system development as required by Simmons business units. Manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously. Develops comprehensive implementation plans and work schedules. Effectively execute, control and monitor projects and report project status via written reports and presentations. Develop training materials and deliver business systems applications training. Develop custom applications, setup, training, and reports as required by Simmons Foods. Required to utilize complex tools to build functions, packages, procedures and develop technical documentation to support all the above. Participate in upgrades and retrofit of reports and custom programs.
Manages Software: Responsible for the ongoing maintenance of existing systems purchased or developed. Direct expert level functional analysis and day-to-day user support. Evaluate legacy systems and plans for migration from depreciated standards to current. Coordinate with senior management, technicians, and development staff deployment and patching of software and systems. Continuously improves services provided to business systems users. Responsible for supporting the integration of applications to the 3rd party applications.
Provides end user assistance: Assists with support activities and escalates issues if necessary. Defines new ways to increase internal client satisfaction and improve internal working relationships. Quickly recognizes issues and performs the steps needed to solve the issue as quickly and effectively as possible. Includes other team members depending on the magnitude of the issue. Participates in After Action Review with the IT team to document resolution and what was learned for future reference.
Evaluates Business Process and participates in IT strategic planning: Analyze business and system processes and suggest process improvements using business systems applications and tools. Participates in IT road map development for future systems, upgrades, IT standards, resource allocation, and budgeting.
Stays current with emerging technologies balanced with plant requirements: Plans configuration of modules to meet business objectives. Supporting hardware and software and provides training to plant personnel as needed. Direct modification of existing programs. Helps develop plans to support implementations and upgrades.
Participates as a member of the Team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Physical Activities: Enters and locates information on a computer. Visually verifies information, often in small print. Communicates with Customers, Vendors, or Employees via telephone, in person, and/or electronic mail. May present information to small or large groups. Move about in a manufacturing environment as needed. Move about in an office environment and surrounding property daily.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): As required by visiting facility.
Travel: One to two offsite classes per year. Travel to Simmons facilities.
Technical Experience: 5 years applicable functional software experience based on specific appended focus or relative education. Knowledge of software development standards, Test and Production environments, testing models, error tracking, development and application life cycles. Some experience managing multiple projects simultaneously. Understanding Agile project development helpful. Strong verbal and written skills. Apex, SQL, PL/SQL, BI Publisher & Oracle OIC
Industry Experience: Experience in the Manufacturing sector, Food processing preferred.
Minimum Education: Must have a 4-year college degree, preferably in computer science or a minimum of 4 years of related functional experience in deploying/using applications.
