Core Knowledge & Skills: Works across multiple languages and platforms, designs and implements architectural decisions, applies design patterns, cloud-native services, IAAS/PAAS/SAAS basics, and secure coding practices (e.g., OWASP Top 10).
Work & Complexity: Performs complex tasks under limited guidance, integrates and troubleshoots distributed or cloud services, and optimizes performance and scalability.
Quality & Independence: Sets a high bar for code quality, multitasks effectively, owns and corrects errors quickly, and drives continuous improvement.

Position Summary
AIS is seeking an experienced Front-End Developer to support a federal customer in Washington, DC. The successful candidate will design, develop, and maintain modern, responsive web applications that support mission-critical operations. This role focuses on creating intuitive, scalable user interfaces using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, HTML, and CSS while integrating with .NET backend services and AWS cloud environments.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on developer who is passionate about delivering exceptional user experiences, building maintainable front-end solutions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams in an Agile development environment. This position requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to support secure and scalable enterprise applications.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain responsive web applications using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, HTML5, and CSS3.
Build modular, reusable, and maintainable UI components following modern front-end engineering standards and best practices.
Integrate front-end applications with backend .NET services utilizing REST APIs, JSON, and XML data exchanges.
Implement client-side state management and optimize application performance for enterprise-scale solutions.
Collaborate with UX/UI designers to translate wireframes and design concepts into functional user interfaces.
Partner with backend engineers and product teams to deliver seamless end-to-end functionality.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Conduct peer code reviews and contribute to coding standards, quality assurance, and software engineering best practices.
Troubleshoot and resolve UI defects, performance issues, and browser compatibility concerns.
Maintain source code repositories using Git and GitLab, following branching strategies and merge request workflows.
Ensure compliance with security, accessibility, and performance requirements, including Section 508 standards where applicable.
Support application deployments and operational activities within AWS-hosted environments.
Contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements and automation efforts supporting software delivery.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
8+ years of professional software development experience, including front-end application development.
5+ years of experience developing modern web applications using React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
3+ years of experience working with Node.js for development tooling, application services, or front-end build processes.
Strong experience building user interfaces with HTML5, CSS3, responsive design frameworks, and modern browser technologies.
Experience integrating front-end applications with RESTful APIs and working with JSON and XML data formats.
Experience with Git and GitLab for source control, versioning, and collaborative software development.
Knowledge of front-end architecture, state management, component lifecycle, and application performance optimization.
Strong understanding of browser debugging, cross-browser compatibility, and troubleshooting techniques.
Experience working within Agile software development teams.
Familiarity with AWS cloud environments and cloud-hosted application architectures.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
Active Top Secret clearance with SCI elibility

Experience developing and maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
Knowledge of YAML configuration files and automated deployment processes.
Experience working with .NET-based backend systems and service integrations.
