Service Technician Jobs in San Jose: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a service technician job in San Jose?
Focus your search on North San Jose's technology corridor and the industrial parks along Brokaw Road, where semiconductor equipment, medical device, and commercial electronics companies hire service technicians most actively. Hands-on experience with the specific equipment a company manufactures gives you a clear edge. Certifications in HVAC, electronics, or biomedical instrumentation also stand out with the contract manufacturers and device companies concentrated in the area.
Which companies hire service technicians in San Jose?
Employers hiring service technicians in San Jose right now include Serve Robotics, Vivint, and Lucid Motors, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. San Jose's employer base skews heavily toward technology hardware manufacturers, medical device companies, and commercial facility management firms that maintain complex on-site equipment.
Are there remote service technician jobs in San Jose?
Yes, but only for a narrow slice of the role. Service technician work is largely hands-on and site-dependent, so fully remote positions are uncommon. About 8% of service technician openings tied to San Jose are remote or hybrid as of July 2026. The roles most likely to offer remote flexibility involve technical support, diagnostics, or software-side troubleshooting rather than physical equipment maintenance.
How can I get a service technician job in San Jose with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Jose is applying to junior or apprentice technician roles at the contract electronics manufacturers and facility services firms operating in North San Jose and the Alviso industrial zone. These employers regularly hire candidates without full credentials and train on proprietary equipment. Starting in a field service coordinator or parts technician role at a local equipment distributor is another way to build hands-on experience before stepping into a full service technician position.
Which industries hire the most service technicians in San Jose?
San Jose service technician roles concentrate in Energy, Fashion & Apparel, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. San Jose's density of semiconductor fabrication facilities, medical device manufacturers, and large commercial real estate portfolios keeps demand for qualified service technicians consistently high across those sectors.
