Position Summary
The Application Engineer is responsible for providing Production with consistent and accurate work orders, using variant configuration and super BOM tools. This role works with a global platform to deliver up-to-date production materials.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities:
- Acts as the technical representative for factory production orders.
- Use product knowledge and comprehension of technical features to create production orders.
- May conduct brainstorming sessions with the engineering personnel aiming at super BOM improvement using variant configuration and internal processes.
- Maintain a tracking system for open orders to assure timely delivery of work orders between Engineering and Production departments.
- Interface with suppliers and vendors as required for clarification of drawing and customer requirements.
- Interface with the customer as required for clarification of product requirements.
- Identify and request engineering data (drawings, specs, parts lists, etc.) as required to support order activity.
- Perform processing activities in accordance with existing procedures, management direction, and work instructions.
- Evaluate existing procedures for potential streamlining of process activities and waste reduction.
- May support Purchasing in a technical capacity when dealing with vendors.
- Use industry software; SAP, E3 series, Vertex to perform day to day processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- Must be able to read, understand, and compose electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Must be able to make independent as well as collaborative decisions to accommodate accurate estimates for internal and external processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be a team player.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail is a must.
- Well-developed PC skills and experience in mechanical and electrical drawings using CAD software is required.
- Must have good knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering discipline.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Associate’s degree in engineering is required.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in mechanical or electrical, application, or sales engineering in an industrial environment.
