Software Development Manager Jobs in Atlanta: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a software development manager job in Atlanta?
Focus your search on Atlanta's Midtown tech corridor, Buckhead, and the Perimeter Center area, where fintech, enterprise software, and healthcare IT employers concentrate most of their engineering leadership hiring. Candidates who stand out locally tend to have direct experience managing distributed or hybrid teams and can show delivery history in agile environments. Networking through Atlanta Tech Village or local IEEE and PMI chapters also opens doors that online applications alone rarely do.
Which companies hire software development managers in Atlanta?
Atlanta software development manager roles are posted by Intercontinental Exchange, CVS Health, and OMP and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Atlanta's hiring base runs wide, from large financial services and healthcare technology firms anchored in Buckhead and Perimeter Center to fast-growing SaaS companies clustered in Midtown.
Are there remote software development manager jobs in Atlanta?
Yes, though remote availability depends on the role. Software development manager positions lean more toward hybrid than fully remote, since team oversight and stakeholder collaboration typically require some in-person presence. About 60% of software development manager openings tied to Atlanta are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with fully remote postings most common among product-facing engineering orgs and enterprise software companies headquartered outside the city.
How can I get a software development manager job in Atlanta with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Atlanta is moving into a team lead or senior engineer role at one of the city's mid-size fintech or healthcare IT companies, then stepping into a management title after demonstrating delivery ownership. Employers at Atlanta Tech Village portfolio companies and the health tech firms around the Emory corridor regularly promote from within. Building visibility through local developer meetups and contributing to Atlanta-based open source projects also helps compress that timeline.
Which industries hire the most software development managers in Atlanta?
The sectors hiring the most software development managers in Atlanta are Insurance, Technology & Software, and Distribution & Wholesale, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Atlanta's position as a fintech hub and a growing center for healthcare IT and cybersecurity means engineering leadership demand in those sectors consistently outpaces other metros of similar size.
