People Incorporated Mental Health Services is seeking Mental Health Support Specialist Relief Staff to support our Long-Term Residential programs. This is an entry-level position that is responsible for providing scheduling relief within a supportive environment for our clients. Responsibilities include providing person-centered engagement and interventions, medication administration, and providing general program oversight and safety.
Schedule: Minimum of 16 hours every 2 weeks
- Scott House's Hours (Primary Location): Operates 24/7
- Other Long Term Residential Programs: Operates 24/7
Location: Scott House (Brooklyn Park, MN)
Hiring Bonus: $1,000 Hiring bonus to external candidates
Hiring Range: $20.50/Hour
- Shift differential of $1/ hour working between 3:00pm-11:00pm AND 11:00pm-7:00am
Schedule Requirements:
- While this position is assigned to a primary location, individuals will work at other locations within Long-Term Residential and may do so with limited notice
- A minimum of 16 hours per pay period will be required with a specific schedule determined based on program needs
- A portion of shifts will be pre-planned between the individual, supervisor and program in advance to ensure critical coverage. The remainder of the individual’s schedule is flexible and they may choose their assignments from program identified open shifts
Main Job Duties:
- Must have physical presence onsite.
- Document interactions with clients into organization’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) and if applicable, program-specific documentation/record-keeping system, while providing clear and concise communication with client, staff and other applicable parties.
- Effectively interact and exhibit behavior that is consistent with customer service and professional standards established by the organizational, division and program.
- Responsible for medication administration in accordance with organization and program policies and procedures.
- Using person-centered principles, actively engage with clients in their daily activities, and develop and maintain appropriate relationships that support the client in meeting their individual goals.
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation for clients experiencing mental health symptoms or other emotional responses while prioritizing client and program safety.
- Independent Living Skills, teaching and/or coaching, as it relates to the individual’s goal and/or treatment plans.
- Full-time staff are part of an on-call rotation.
- Attend mandatory team meetings.

- The ability to pass the screening required by Federal Human Services Office of Inspector General to assure the employee has not been excluded from working in the Health Care Programs which receive federal funding.
- Ability to pass a Criminal Background Check.
- Current driver’s license along with a good driving record and valid insurance, if applicable.
Education and Experience
- GED or High School Diploma
AND
- Must be enrolled in a program in the pursuit of a bachelor or Associate of Arts degree in a health or human services field; OR
- Have one year of experience working within the target population served; OR
- Experience as a certified peer specialist according to Minnesota Statute section 256B.0615; OR
- Meets the requirements for unlicensed personnel under Minnesota Statute under sections 144A.43 to 144A.483.
Certifications/Licenses
- Upon hire and prior to independently working with clients, you must earn a certification in First Aid CPR AED training and Medication Administration as required by the program.
