Description
Governors State University seeks applications for a full-time (9 month), tenure-track assistant professor position in the Department of Communication Disorders, College of Health and Human Services. The position is available August 2026 or until filled. The department consists of eight full-time faculty and three part-time faculty. The program serves both part-time and full-time students. The graduate program in speech-language pathology is CAA-accredited. All clinical experiences are community based and include culturally and linguistically diverse clients. Our desired candidates will have the ability to teach undergraduate/graduate courses, conduct research in areas of interest, supervise students in clinical activities, serve on department, college, and university committees, and advise graduate students.
Governors State University is the only regional, public, comprehensive university in Chicago's south suburban area, serving approximately 7,750 students annually. GSU provides accessible, high value undergraduate and graduate education to culturally and economically diverse students. With the lowest undergraduate tuition in Illinois, GSU offers accredited programs that have earned high praise from national accrediting agencies. New faculty at GSU must demonstrate enthusiasm and ability to work with students at all levels, from first-year to graduate.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology or a related discipline is required; ABDs will be considered.
- The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about our mission and vision and have clinical experience with pediatric and/or adult populations. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach in one or more of the following areas: child language, speech sound disorders, phonetics, anatomy and physiology, neuroanatomy, or related areas, as well as bilingual and multicultural expertise but other areas of expertise will be considered.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) and eligibility for Illinois licensure is desirable.
