Mid Level Sports Physical Therapist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level sports physical therapist job?
Position yourself by emphasizing the clinical autonomy you have already exercised, such as managing a full caseload, treating complex orthopedic or athletic injuries without supervision, and contributing to return-to-sport protocols. Highlight any specialty certifications like OCS or SCS, and tailor your resume to show measurable patient outcomes rather than just listing duties. Employers at this level want evidence that you work independently and improve processes.
Which companies hire mid level sports physical therapists?
Companies hiring mid level sports physical therapists right now include Amazon, D1 Training, and Playfly Sports, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of outpatient orthopedic groups, hospital systems, collegiate and professional sports organizations, and multi-site rehabilitation networks looking for clinicians who can contribute without heavy onboarding.
Are there remote mid level sports physical therapist jobs?
Yes, though most physical therapy work is hands-on and on-site. About 11% of mid level sports physical therapist openings are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and these positions typically involve telehealth consultations, injury prevention programming, or clinical education roles rather than direct patient treatment in a traditional rehab setting.
How do I move up to a mid level sports physical therapist role?
Progression from entry level to mid level comes from deepening clinical competence in a specific area, such as sports rehabilitation, manual therapy, or strength and conditioning integration, while taking on greater caseload responsibility. Pursuing a board certification, contributing to outcome tracking, and volunteering to mentor newer staff or students signals readiness for mid level expectations to future employers.
Which industries hire the most mid level sports physical therapists?
Mid Level sports physical therapist roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Technology & Software, and Retail, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they serve active patient populations, partner with athletic programs, or operate high-volume outpatient clinics that need experienced clinicians who can manage complex cases and contribute to program development.
