Job Summary
TYLin is seeking a Structural Engineering Designer to join our Rail + Transit team in New York City. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer (1–5 years of experience) to grow technical expertise, contribute to meaningful projects, and be part of a creative, supportive, and collaborative team.You will gain hands-on experience in structural design for major rail and transit facilities while working alongside seasoned engineers who are passionate about mentorship and fostering professional growth. This role provides exposure to challenging transit projects and the chance to develop your skills in a fast-paced, rewarding environment.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
What You’ll Do
- Assist with structural design and analysis for stations, maintenance facilities, coachyards, and right-of-way structures.
- Prepare calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural engineers to integrate structural solutions into complex transit projects.
- Support field investigations, site visits, and condition assessments to better understand real-world design applications.
- Learn to navigate relevant codes and standards including AREMA, AASHTO, IBC, and NYC-specific requirements.
- Participate in client meetings and project discussions to understand project scope, constraints, and design objectives.
- Receive mentorship and guidance from senior engineers while gradually taking on more design responsibility.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- 1–5 years of structural engineering experience, preferably in transit, transportation, or infrastructure projects.
- EIT (Engineer in Training) certification is preferred; working toward PE licensure is a plus.
- Familiarity with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, or similar.
- Experience with BIM/CAD platforms including Revit, MicroStation (OpenBuildings) or AutoCAD is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset.
- Passion for learning, growing technical capabilities, and contributing to complex engineering solutions.

Additional Information
TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $81,200 - $105,000 annually for this position and local market.
