Structural Engineer Jobs in Nashville: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a structural engineer job in Nashville?
Focus your search on Nashville's booming commercial construction and civil infrastructure sectors, which drive the bulk of local demand. Engineering and architecture firms working on downtown high-rises, mixed-use developments in the Gulch, and TDOT-funded transportation projects hire most consistently. Candidates with experience in healthcare facility design or multi-family residential stand out given Nashville's sustained building boom. Strong AutoCAD, Revit, and RISA3D skills and familiarity with IBC code applications sharpen your competitiveness locally.
Which companies hire structural engineers in Nashville?
Companies currently hiring structural engineers in Nashville include CDM Smith, Bennett & Pless, and Smith Seckman Reid, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Nashville's structural engineering employer base is a mix of regional AEC firms, national engineering consultancies with local offices, and large general contractors managing major commercial and infrastructure builds across the metro.
Are there remote structural engineer jobs in Nashville?
Yes, though remote work is limited by nature for structural engineers, since site visits, field inspections, and coordination with contractors typically require an in-person presence. About 0% of structural engineer openings tied to Nashville are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, skewing toward roles in design review, drafting, and project coordination rather than construction administration. Hybrid schedules are most common at larger consultancies with distributed teams.
How can I get a structural engineer job in Nashville with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Nashville is joining a mid-size AEC firm as a junior structural engineer or EIT, where project volume is high enough to support mentorship without the strict experience floors of larger national firms. Nashville's sustained construction activity means local civil and structural consultancies regularly hire recent graduates for CAD production, load calculations, and shop drawing review. A Tennessee EIT certification and proficiency in Revit or RISA3D make your application competitive at these firms.
Which industries hire the most structural engineers in Nashville?
The sectors hiring the most structural engineers in Nashville are Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Manufacturing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Nashville's rapid population growth, ongoing commercial redevelopment downtown, and sustained state investment in highway and transit infrastructure keep demand in these sectors consistently high across the metro area.
