Supply Chain Director Jobs in San Diego: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a supply chain director job in San Diego?
Focus on the sectors that drive San Diego hiring: defense contractors, life sciences manufacturers, and consumer goods companies with cross-border logistics tied to Tijuana. Jobs concentrate in Kearny Mesa, Sorrento Valley, and the South Bay industrial corridor. Candidates who combine procurement or operations leadership with experience in regulated industries, government contracting, or nearshore manufacturing stand out in this market.
Which companies hire supply chain directors in San Diego?
Employers hiring supply chain directors in San Diego right now include Northrop Grumman, Qualcomm, and Solar Turbines, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. San Diego's hiring pool skews toward defense primes, medtech manufacturers, and regional food and consumer goods distributors with binational supply chains.
Are there remote supply chain director jobs in San Diego?
Yes, but selectively. Supply chain director roles are heavily site-dependent when they involve warehouse oversight, manufacturing floor coordination, or cross-border logistics, making full remote rare. About 18% of supply chain director openings tied to San Diego are remote or hybrid as of July 2026. Strategic and procurement-focused roles at corporate headquarters in the Sorrento Valley and downtown areas are the most likely to offer hybrid arrangements.
How can I get a supply chain director job in San Diego with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving up through a San Diego-area logistics, manufacturing, or defense operations team rather than stepping into a director role cold. Entry points include supply chain analyst, procurement coordinator, and operations manager roles at South Bay distributors, Kearny Mesa manufacturers, or the region's defense contractors. Familiarity with cross-border Mexico logistics or experience with government-regulated supply chains adds immediate local relevance and accelerates advancement.
Which industries hire the most supply chain directors in San Diego?
Most supply chain director openings in San Diego sit in Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals, Manufacturing, and Medical Devices, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. San Diego's proximity to the U.S.-Mexico border, its dense defense and aerospace contractor base, and its established life sciences manufacturing cluster all sustain consistent demand for senior supply chain leadership.
