Supply Chain Director Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a supply chain director in California?
There is no state-issued license required to work as a supply chain director in California, so the path runs through education and employer-recognized credentials. Most California employers expect a bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or engineering, and a significant number prefer a master's or MBA. Industry certifications from APICS, specifically the CSCP or CPIM, carry real weight with California hiring managers across manufacturing, tech, and life sciences employers.
How much do supply chain directors make in California?
Supply chain directors in California earn a median of about $123,780 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $71,260 for the lowest 10% to over $208,420 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire supply chain directors in California?
Employers hiring supply chain directors in California right now include Alvarez & Marsal, NVIDIA, and Revolution Medicines, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, major retail distribution centers, and life sciences manufacturers means demand for supply chain leadership is consistent across both large corporations and high-growth companies.
Which California cities have the most supply chain director jobs?
San Francisco, San Diego, and Los Angeles have the most supply chain director openings in California. Los Angeles drives volume through its port activity, retail distribution, and manufacturing base, while the Bay Area reflects demand from technology and semiconductor companies, and San Diego's concentration of biotech and defense contractors sustains a strong and distinct cluster of supply chain leadership roles.
Are there remote supply chain director jobs in California?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely analytical roles because supply chain directors are often expected to be present at distribution centers, manufacturing floors, or with vendor teams. About 24% of supply chain director openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and the positions most likely to be remote are those focused on strategic procurement, vendor management, or network design rather than hands-on operations oversight.
How can I get hired as a supply chain director in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving into a director role from a senior manager or operations manager position within a California employer that promotes from within, particularly in retail, food and beverage, or technology hardware. Large California companies including those in the aerospace, distribution, and life sciences sectors run rotational operations programs and hire supply chain analysts or planners as entry points. Earning an APICS certification and building ERP system proficiency in adjacent roles such as procurement manager, logistics manager, or demand planner gives candidates a measurable edge when applying for their first director-level position.
Where can I find and apply to supply chain director jobs in California?
You can find and apply to supply chain director jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings across industries. Find the roles that fit your experience and apply directly to the ones that match.
