Systems Engineer Jobs in Phoenix: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a systems engineer job in Phoenix?
Focus your search on Phoenix's aerospace and defense employers near Deer Valley Airport and the East Valley, semiconductor and chip design firms in Chandler and Tempe, and defense contractors downtown. Candidates who hold an active security clearance or have experience with model-based systems engineering move fastest in this market. Tailoring your resume to hardware-software integration or embedded systems gives you a concrete edge over generalist applicants.
Which companies hire systems engineers in Phoenix?
Phoenix systems engineer roles are posted by Honeywell Aerospace, Real Time Consulting, and HDR and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The Phoenix market skews heavily toward defense primes, semiconductor manufacturers, and utilities, all of which maintain large systems engineering teams locally.
Are there remote systems engineer jobs in Phoenix?
Yes, but availability depends on the type of work. Hands-on roles tied to hardware, lab environments, or classified programs are almost always on-site, while systems architects and requirements engineers working in pure software or cloud environments have more flexibility. About 78% of systems engineer openings tied to Phoenix are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the remote share concentrated in enterprise IT and SaaS-adjacent roles rather than defense or semiconductor positions.
How can I get a systems engineer job in Phoenix with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Phoenix is through an associate systems engineer or systems analyst role at one of the city's defense contractors or aerospace firms, which regularly hire new graduates from Arizona State University's engineering programs. Local utilities and municipal technology departments also post junior systems roles that require less domain experience. Earning a CompTIA or INCOSE-aligned certification and building familiarity with requirements management tools like DOORS or JAMA strengthens an entry-level application considerably in this market.
Which industries hire the most systems engineers in Phoenix?
The sectors hiring the most systems engineers in Phoenix are Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Phoenix's combination of major defense installations, a dense semiconductor manufacturing base, and growing data center infrastructure makes it one of the more active systems engineering markets in the Southwest.
