Systems Engineer Jobs in Orlando: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a systems engineer job in Orlando?
Target Orlando's defense and aerospace contractors, simulation and modeling firms, and the growing tech presence in Lake Nona and the Central Florida Research Park. Candidates with active security clearances move fastest in this market. Familiarity with systems integration for defense platforms or training simulation systems is a genuine differentiator, as these sectors dominate local hiring far more than in most other cities.
Which companies hire systems engineers in Orlando?
Orlando systems engineer roles are posted by Lockheed Martin, Serco, and DISTI and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Orlando's employer mix skews heavily toward defense primes, federal contractors, and simulation technology firms tied to the military training mission at nearby bases.
Are there remote systems engineer jobs in Orlando?
Yes, though remote availability depends heavily on the role. Systems engineering work that involves hardware integration, lab testing, or classified defense systems is almost always on-site. About 17% of systems engineer openings tied to Orlando are remote or hybrid as of July 2026. Architecture, requirements analysis, and model-based systems engineering tasks are the functions most likely to offer remote flexibility in Orlando.
How can I get a systems engineer job in Orlando with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Orlando is through internships or rotational programs at defense contractors or simulation firms near the Central Florida Research Park or UCF. Entry roles like systems analyst, integration technician, or junior test engineer are common stepping stones locally. Pursuing a degree or certificate from UCF in engineering or computer science, and obtaining even a basic security clearance eligibility, gives candidates a measurable edge with Orlando's federal-contractor employers.
Which industries hire the most systems engineers in Orlando?
Most systems engineer openings in Orlando sit in Manufacturing, Consulting & Professional Services, and Aerospace & Defense, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Orlando's proximity to military installations like Naval Air Station Whiting Field's training pipeline and the large simulation and modeling industry anchored by firms near UCF makes defense and aerospace the dominant hiring drivers in this market.
