Entry Level Systems Security Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level systems security engineer job?
Entry level systems security engineer roles go to candidates who can show hands-on security work, even if it came from a home lab, a capture-the-flag competition, or a university practicum. Employers at this stage look for foundational knowledge in networking, operating systems, and threat analysis. A security-focused certification such as CompTIA Security+ or an internship in a related IT role gives your application a concrete edge over candidates who only list coursework.
Which companies hire entry level systems security engineers?
Companies hiring entry level systems security engineers right now include TECH SYSTEMS, Kastle Systems, and Booz Allen Hamilton, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Defense contractors, federal agencies, managed security service providers, and large technology firms tend to hire most actively at this level, often bringing on new grad and junior talent to grow into specialized security functions.
Are there remote entry level systems security engineer jobs?
Yes, though on-site and hybrid roles remain common at this stage. About 6% of entry level systems security engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, so fully remote options exist but are not the majority. Filtering by work setting on Migrate Mate lets you focus only on the arrangement that fits your situation.
Are these new grad systems security engineer jobs?
Yes, the listings here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior systems security engineer roles alongside other entry level postings. A new-grad-friendly posting typically welcomes zero to two years of experience and treats internships, academic projects, or a strong technical portfolio as equivalent to professional history. Look for language like "entry level," "0-2 years," or "recent graduates encouraged to apply" as reliable signals.
Which industries hire the most entry level systems security engineers?
Entry Level systems security engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Education, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Those sectors tend to drive hiring at this level because they handle sensitive data, face strict compliance requirements, or maintain critical infrastructure that requires dedicated security headcount even at the junior end of the career ladder.
