Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, this position leads two Talent Acquisition team members while maintaining an active portfolio of open positions and personally recruiting for priority, complex, hard-to-fill, professional, and leadership roles.
This role is responsible for keeping the recruitment function moving while continuously strengthening how Swope Health attracts, engages, selects, and hires talent. A significant portion of the Manager's work is focused on proactive sourcing, pipeline development, community and workforce partnerships, and direct candidate engagement, particularly for critical healthcare and difficult-to-fill positions.
The Manager partners closely with hiring leaders, Human Resources, and the Vice President of Human Resources to establish consistent recruiting practices, improve the candidate and hiring manager experience, monitor recruitment performance, and strengthen the connection between selection quality and associate retention.
The successful candidate will balance people leadership, hands-on recruiting, sourcing, relationship building, operational discipline, and continuous improvement. This role is ideal for a recruiting leader who enjoys building systems and developing people while remaining actively connected to candidates and the recruiting marketplace
What You Will Do:
Lead, coach, develop, and manage the Talent Acquisition team while helping set daily priorities and recruiting assignments.
Personally manage approximately 15–20 priority, complex, professional, management, and hard-to-fill requisitions.
Source and engage active and passive candidates through direct outreach, professional networks, sourcing tools, referrals, social platforms, and community connections.
Build long-term pipelines for critical healthcare and operational talent, including nursing, medical assistants, providers, behavioral health professionals, social workers, leaders, and other difficult-to-fill roles.
Develop relationships with colleges, training programs, workforce organizations, professional associations, and community partners.
Partner with hiring managers on intake, recruiting strategy, candidate assessment, interview processes, offers, and candidate communication.
In partnership with the Vice President of Human Resources, strengthen TA workflows, SOPs, service expectations, metrics, reporting, technology, and selection practices.

Partner with the Vice President of Human Resources on recruitment agencies, sourcing platforms, and other external recruiting resources.
Represent Swope Health and PACE KC at career fairs, recruiting events, professional meetings, and community outreach opportunities.

Who's Hiring

Talent Acquisition Intern Jobs in Kansas City: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a talent acquisition intern job in Kansas City?
Kansas City's strongest hiring comes from its healthcare networks, regional banks, and logistics and supply chain companies, so targeting those sectors gives you a real edge. Roles concentrate downtown and in the Overland Park and Lenexa corridors on the Kansas side. Candidates who know applicant tracking systems and have done any campus recruiting, HR coursework, or sourcing work stand out most with Kansas City employers.
Which companies hire talent acquisition interns in Kansas City?
Employers hiring talent acquisition interns in Kansas City right now include Urban Summit, NBH Bank, and H&R Block, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Kansas City's mix of large regional health systems, financial services firms, and logistics companies means steady intern-level openings across multiple industries year-round.
Are there remote talent acquisition intern jobs in Kansas City?
Yes, though talent acquisition intern roles that involve scheduling interviews, coordinating onboarding, or attending career fairs tend to require some on-site presence. About 60% of talent acquisition intern openings tied to Kansas City are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the most flexibility found in sourcing and data-entry-heavy roles. Kansas City's larger employers in tech and financial services are most likely to offer hybrid arrangements.
How can I get a talent acquisition intern job in Kansas City with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Kansas City is applying to intern programs at the city's large healthcare systems or regional banks, which regularly take candidates with HR coursework but no formal recruiting experience. Volunteer recruiting for student organizations or campus clubs builds a credible portfolio quickly. Entry-level HR coordinator and administrative roles at Kansas City staffing agencies also convert into full talent acquisition work faster than most corporate paths.
