Tax Associate Jobs in Boston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a tax associate job in Boston?
Target Boston's Financial District and Back Bay, where public accounting firms, wealth management companies, and regional advisory practices do most of their tax hiring. Big Four and national mid-market firms recruit heavily through campus programs at local universities, while smaller boutique firms and family offices often prefer candidates with direct client-facing experience. A CPA track and exposure to state and local tax issues specific to Massachusetts strengthens any application.
Which companies hire tax associates in Boston?

The Boston market leans heavily on regional and national accounting firms alongside financial services employers concentrated in the Financial District and Seaport.
Are there remote tax associate jobs in Boston?
Yes, though tax associate work is more hybrid than fully remote, since client meetings, document handling, and firm culture often require some in-office presence. About 60% of tax associate openings tied to Boston are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the most flexibility appearing in corporate tax compliance and advisory roles rather than client-facing public accounting positions.
How can I get a tax associate job in Boston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Boston is through an internship or campus recruiting program at a Big Four or regional accounting firm, several of which maintain active presence near downtown and recruit from area schools year-round. Entry-level openings also appear at Boston-area financial services firms and corporate tax departments seeking staff accountants willing to train toward tax specialization. Relevant coursework, an active CPA candidacy, and any prior internship experience set you apart in this market.
