Commonwealth Soap & Toiletries (CST) is the second-largest private-label soap manufacturer in the United States. Founded in 1990 by the Layne family in Foster, Rhode Island, CST has grown from a single bar soap line to seven full production lines across our facilities in Fall River, Massachusetts with a peak capacity of 200,000 bars per day.

CST serves national brands, major retailers, hotel and cruise line amenity programs, hospitals, spas, household-product brands, and private-label entrepreneurs across the United States and Internationally.

The Controller role at Commonwealth Soap and Toiletries ("CST" and "Company") will play a vital role in leading the cost accounting function, managing financial reporting, and overseeing accurate GL reconciliations, asset management, and month-end close processes to drive business strategy and financial integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Train, develop, and mentor team members to enhance performance and support career growth, while constructively managing performance issues and executing disciplinary actions when necessary.
• Generate and analyze daily cash flow reports for executive management to monitor liquidity. Prepare bank wires/transfers
• Prepare and execute authorized bank wires and account transfers.
• Month-end close operations, including executing specialized computer applications and posting necessary month-end entries.
• Prepare financial statements, consolidations, and key monthly financial reports for management review.
• Calculate, verify, and prepare monthly sales and performance commissions.
• Conduct monthly cash reconciliations, allocation entries, and general ledger reconciliations
• Prepare and post labor and overhead cost allocation entries to reflect accurate operational expenses.
• Maintain and manage the corporate asset management software system, tracking fixed assets and depreciation.

Qualifications:

• 2 or more years of professional experience in Cost Accounting is required.
• Associate degree is required; Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
• Previous leadership experience is preferred.
• Working knowledge of accounting software is required; Deacom experience is a plus.
• Prior Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software experience is preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office
• Thorough understanding of basic accounting, financial principles, and cost accounting methodologies.
• High levels of integrity and ability to handle confidential information with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational, time management, analytical, and communication skills.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Must be willing to undergo a criminal background check, or "consumer report", may include a credit report and other information regarding your credit standing.
