Position Overview
The Controller shall be responsible for overseeing accounting and financial reporting functions and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timely completion of the Company's financial information.
This is a hands-on position within a small manufacturing and service business. The Controller will be expected to independently manage and review the Company's accounting processes, analyze financial results, identify and investigate unusual balances or trends, and provide management with meaningful financial information to support business decisions.
Candidate should possess a strong accounting foundation and sufficient professional experience to independently assess the Company's financial statements and accounting records.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the Company's day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger activity, and account reconciliations.
- Lead the monthly closing process and prepare accurate financial statements, such as Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Trial Balance.
- Review and analyze financial results, investigate unusual balances and variances, and explain significant changes in revenue, gross profit, expenses, cash, A/R, A/P, inventory, and work-in-process.
- Oversee accounting for work-in-process & inventory to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Review job costs, margins, and significant variances, and communicate relevant findings to management.
- Oversee payroll processing and related accounting, reporting, and reconciliations.
- Monitor cash flow, accounts receivable collections, accounts payable requirements, and other working-capital needs.
- Prepare financial reports, analyses, budgets, and forecasts to support management decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial statements, month-end closing, account reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate financial information clearly to management.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
