Mid Level Tax Consultant Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level tax consultant job?
Position your existing experience around ownership and outcomes, not just tasks completed. Highlight engagements where you led the work, resolved a complex issue, or advised a client independently. Applications that show you can handle a full project from intake to delivery, without step-by-step direction, stand out at this level. A CPA credential or active progress toward one reinforces your readiness.
Which companies hire mid level tax consultants?
Companies hiring mid level tax consultants right now include RÖDL USA, Deloitte, and CBRE, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a broad range of employers, including national public accounting firms, regional CPA practices, corporate in-house tax teams, and financial services companies that handle complex multi-entity or multi-state tax work.
Are there remote mid level tax consultant jobs?
Yes, remote and hybrid options are available, though availability varies by employer and role type. About 35% of mid level tax consultant openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with client-facing advisory roles more likely to require some in-person presence and compliance-focused positions more likely to offer full flexibility.
How do I move up to a mid level tax consultant role?
The move from entry level to mid level happens when you shift from executing tasks to owning outcomes. That means building depth in a specific area such as corporate tax, international compliance, or state and local tax, taking on client relationships without close supervision, and accumulating measurable impact like reducing a client's liability or leading a filing independently. A CPA license or consistent progress toward it accelerates the transition.
Which industries hire the most mid level tax consultants?
Mid Level tax consultant roles concentrate in Accounting & Auditing, Investment & Asset Management, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive demand because they face complex, high-volume tax obligations, including multistate filings, corporate structuring, and regulatory compliance, that require consultants who can work independently across a client portfolio or internal business unit.
