Many employers also accept candidates with an Enrolled Agent credential issued by the IRS. Non-CPA roles at banks and corporate finance teams in South Dakota typically require a relevant degree plus demonstrated tax coursework.
How much do tax consultants make in South Dakota?

South Dakota's favorable tax climate and its concentration of financial services firms in Sioux Falls make it a consistent market for corporate and individual tax roles year-round.
Which South Dakota cities have the most tax consultant jobs?
Sioux Falls, Aberdeen, and Yankton account for the greatest concentration of tax consultant openings in South Dakota. Sioux Falls drives the majority of postings as the state's financial services hub, home to major bank operations and regional accounting firms, while Rapid City and Aberdeen generate steady demand through healthcare networks, regional businesses, and public accounting practices serving the western and north-central parts of the state.
Are there remote tax consultant jobs in South Dakota?

The most realistic entry point is an associate or staff tax role at a regional public accounting firm in Sioux Falls or Rapid City, where firms such as Eide Bailly and regional CPA practices regularly hire new graduates into structured training programs. Lateral moves from bookkeeping, payroll, or accounts payable positions within South Dakota's banking and healthcare sectors are also a proven path.
