Tax Manager Jobs in Philadelphia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a tax manager job in Philadelphia?
Target Philadelphia's heaviest hiring pockets: large regional accounting firms along Market Street and Broad Street, the healthcare systems anchored in University City and North Philadelphia, and the financial services companies concentrated in Center City. Candidates with public accounting backgrounds, CPA credentials, and hands-on corporate or partnership tax experience stand out locally. Networking through the Greater Philadelphia chapter of accounting and finance professional groups also opens doors faster than cold applications.
Which companies hire tax managers in Philadelphia?
Companies currently hiring tax managers in Philadelphia include BDO, KPMG, and Weaver, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Philadelphia's market is anchored by a mix of regional and national accounting firms, large health systems, and corporate headquarters with in-house tax departments.
Are there remote tax manager jobs in Philadelphia?
Yes, though availability depends on the role, as tax management often involves close coordination with internal teams and clients that favors hybrid or on-site arrangements over fully remote. About 19% of tax manager openings tied to Philadelphia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with hybrid schedules most common at larger corporate employers and national accounting firms with Philadelphia offices. Research, compliance review, and tax provision work tend to be the most remote-compatible functions locally.
How can I get a tax manager job in Philadelphia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Philadelphia is starting as a tax associate or senior associate at one of the regional or Big Four accounting firms with offices in Center City, then building toward a manager role. Philadelphia's large hospital networks and university-affiliated systems also hire junior tax staff who grow into management. Gaining experience with federal and state income tax compliance, especially Pennsylvania-specific returns, and pursuing your CPA gives you a clear edge in this market.
