Technical Architect Jobs in Missouri: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a technical architect in Missouri?
Most technical architects in Missouri move into the role from a senior software engineering or systems engineering background after building deep expertise in a platform or architecture domain. Missouri does not require a state-issued license for technical architects, so employers focus on demonstrated experience, portfolio of architecture decisions, and industry certifications. Credentials like AWS Certified Solutions Architect, TOGAF, or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert carry real weight with Missouri hiring teams.
How much do technical architects make in Missouri?
Technical architects in Missouri earn a median of about $103,130 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $62,080 for the lowest 10% to over $168,820 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire technical architects in Missouri?
Employers hiring technical architects in Missouri right now include Edward Jones, Fustis, and Softpath System, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Missouri's concentration of large healthcare technology, financial services, and managed services firms makes it one of the more consistent markets for architecture roles in the Midwest.
Which Missouri cities have the most technical architect jobs?
St. Louis, New Home, and Kansas City account for the greatest concentration of technical architect openings in Missouri. St. Louis leads because of its deep roster of enterprise technology companies and healthcare IT headquarters, while Kansas City's financial services and logistics sectors generate steady demand, and smaller suburban markets often reflect the footprints of large employers operating regional campuses nearby.
Are there remote technical architect jobs in Missouri?
Yes, and more than most fields. Technical architecture is largely a desk and collaboration role, making it well suited to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 60% of technical architect openings tied to Missouri are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting broad employer comfort with distributed architecture teams. The parts of the role most commonly done remotely include design reviews, documentation, and stakeholder presentations.
How can I get hired as a technical architect in Missouri with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from a senior software engineering or cloud engineering role into an architecture-adjacent position such as solutions engineer or technical lead. Missouri employers like World Wide Technology and Cerner regularly bring on engineers who show initiative in design work and are willing to take on architecture responsibilities incrementally. Building a portfolio of architecture diagrams, decision records, and cloud certifications strengthens a candidacy significantly before making the formal transition.
