Technical Architect Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a technical architect in Texas?
Becoming a technical architect in Texas typically starts with a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or software engineering, followed by years of hands-on development or systems engineering work. Texas does not require a state-issued license for this role. Most Texas employers expect candidates to hold recognized industry certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or TOGAF, which serve as the de facto professional credentials in this field.
How much do technical architects make in Texas?
Technical architects in Texas earn a median of about $133,310 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $70,110 for the lowest 10% to over $191,800 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire technical architects in Texas?
Employers hiring technical architects in Texas right now include Apple, Molex, and Humana, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of technology headquarters, energy companies, and financial services firms means demand for technical architects is consistent and distributed across multiple industries rather than tied to a single sector.
Which Texas cities have the most technical architect jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Houston post the most technical architect openings in Texas. Dallas-Fort Worth's deep base of corporate headquarters and financial services firms, Austin's technology industry and fast-growing cloud-native companies, and Houston's energy and petrochemical sector each drive sustained demand, while smaller metros like San Antonio benefit from large federal and military IT contracts.
Are there remote technical architect jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. Technical architect work is largely design and communication-driven, which makes it well suited to remote or hybrid arrangements. About 29% of technical architect openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how broadly distributed the talent pool and employer base have become. The most remote-friendly specialties are cloud architecture and enterprise integration, where on-site presence is rarely required day to day.
How can I get hired as a technical architect in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from a software engineer or systems administrator role into a junior or associate architect position. Large Texas employers such as Dell Technologies, AT&T, and major banking institutions in Dallas run internal development programs that promote high-performing engineers into architecture tracks. Building a portfolio of architecture diagrams, earning an AWS or Azure associate-level certification, and targeting mid-size Texas technology consultancies, which regularly hire entry-level architects for client projects, all improve your chances.
Where can I find and apply to technical architect jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to technical architect jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across industries and hiring levels. Find roles that match your background and apply directly through each listing without needing to go elsewhere.
