Technical Architect Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a technical architect in Colorado?
Colorado does not require a state-issued license to work as a technical architect in IT or software. The standard path starts with a bachelor's degree in computer science or software engineering, followed by several years of hands-on development experience before moving into architecture roles. Vendor certifications from AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud carry significant weight with Front Range employers and are the most practical credential to pursue alongside portfolio-building work.
How much do technical architects make in Colorado?
Technical architects in Colorado earn a median of about $139,230 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $94,920 for the lowest 10% to over $206,600 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire technical architects in Colorado?
Companies currently hiring technical architects in Colorado include Sanmina, LogicMonitor, and Kratos Defense, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Colorado's mix of defense contractors, cloud-forward tech companies, and large enterprise operations in the Denver metro creates consistent demand across both commercial and public-sector architecture roles.
Which Colorado cities have the most technical architect jobs?
Denver, Colorado Springs, and Broomfield have the most technical architect openings in Colorado. Denver dominates due to its concentration of enterprise technology firms and financial services headquarters, Boulder draws cloud and SaaS companies anchored by the University of Colorado research ecosystem, and Colorado Springs reflects steady demand from the large defense and federal contracting community surrounding Fort Carson and Peterson Space Force Base.
Are there remote technical architect jobs in Colorado?
Yes, and more than most fields. Technical architecture is largely a design and communication discipline that translates well to distributed work. About 75% of technical architect openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly the role has shifted away from on-site requirements. Roles involving cloud strategy, solution design, and vendor evaluation are the most likely to be fully remote, while positions tied to secure government or defense programs typically require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a technical architect in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a lateral move from a senior software developer or systems engineer role, which is how most Colorado employers expect architects to arrive. Large Front Range employers such as Leidos, Oracle, and DXC Technology routinely post associate architect and staff engineer roles that feed into architecture tracks. Building a portfolio of system design proposals, contributing to open-source infrastructure projects, and earning an AWS or Azure solutions architect associate certification all give candidates a concrete edge in Colorado hiring conversations.
Where can I find and apply to technical architect jobs in Colorado?
You can find and apply to technical architect jobs in Colorado on Migrate Mate, which lists current Colorado openings across the Denver metro, Boulder, Colorado Springs, and beyond. Search the listings for roles that match your specialization and experience level, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
