About Fluidstack
We exist to make humanity more free. For most of human history, you farmed or you starved. Technology gave people more time for the things they wanted to do, instead of things they had to do. Powerful AI will be the biggest lever for human choice we've ever built - but only if models are aligned with what humanity actually wants. There are groups building AI who don't share these goals. Whoever deploys frontier compute infrastructure fastest will decide whether AI expands human freedom or shrinks it. We're singularly focused on delivering 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else, rethinking every layer of the stack. We acquire power, design and build data centers, and operate them - with teams spanning hardware and software. Speed and scale are our key differentiators. Come be a part of building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI. We hire people who care deeply about this problem space. If that is you, please apply!
How We Operate
Extreme ownership. Full autonomy. Own things end to end often taking on scope outside your core role without being asked to get things done.
Velocity. We drive everything forward as fast as possible.
First principles. Challenge every assumption. Zero analogy thinking, no egos, the best idea wins.
Love of the game. The frontier of AI is the most interesting problem of our time. We put in long hours at high intensity to push the frontier forward.
Role Scope
Lead facilities software automation: the systems that let software observe, decide, and act on physical plant.
Own the architecture from telemetry through decision to actuation, with safety and authorization designed in.
Set the engineering standards for a team shipping against live infrastructure.
Carry the hardest problems: closed-loop control paths, simulation, and rollout strategy across the fleet.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
You've led teams building software that controls or automates physical systems.
You've designed act-on-plant paths with interlocks, authorization, and audit.
You've taken automation from one site to many with a real rollout model.
Your architecture decisions balance speed with the blast radius of being wrong.
You still write the critical code.
* Bonus: Controls background (PLC, BMS). Digital twin and simulation. Energy systems. Safety-critical software practices.

Technical Lead Jobs in Austin: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a technical lead job in Austin?
The fastest path into a technical lead role in Austin is through the city's dense enterprise software and semiconductor ecosystems, where companies promote strong senior engineers with demonstrated ownership of delivery and cross-team coordination. Roles in the Domain and East Austin tech corridor move quickly, so having a portfolio of shipped features, architecture decisions, or mentorship experience gives candidates a clear edge over applicants with equivalent tenure but narrower scope.
Which companies hire technical leads in Austin?
Employers hiring technical leads in Austin right now include Tesla, Google, and Apptronik, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Austin's hiring pool is broad, ranging from global tech companies with large local engineering offices to fast-growing fintech and health-tech startups headquartered in the city.
Are there remote technical lead jobs in Austin?
Yes, though availability depends on the role: technical leads with primarily planning, architecture review, and code review responsibilities tend to go remote more often than those expected to run in-person sprint ceremonies or sit alongside embedded hardware teams. About 33% of technical lead openings tied to Austin are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with fully remote postings most common among Austin-based SaaS and cloud companies.
How can I get a technical lead job in Austin with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is landing a senior software engineer role at one of Austin's mid-size product companies, where engineers frequently step into lead responsibilities on smaller squads before the title formalizes. Austin's active startup scene in fintech and health-tech is especially open to engineers who take on technical ownership early, and local bootcamp-to-engineer pipelines at companies near the University of Texas campus create visible stepping-stone paths from individual contributor to lead.
Which industries hire the most technical leads in Austin?
Austin technical lead roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Electronics & Hardware, and Construction & Real Estate, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Austin's position as a hub for both established semiconductor manufacturers and high-growth software companies means demand for technical leads stays broad, with engineering leadership roles spread across both legacy enterprise systems and modern cloud-native product teams.
