DESCRIPTION
Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.
We are seeking a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to provide leadership for our avionics development lab operations team. In this role, you will drive test lab and test equipment readiness planning through execution, including: qualification schedules and dependencies, hardware and software deliverables, test case development, test readiness reviews, mechanical GSE support, test rack support, and venue logistics coordination. You will influence lab facility design and operations while managing work streams across internal and external teams, proactively addressing risks to the critical path, removing roadblocks through stakeholder coordination and escalation, and tracking actions to closure.

- Work with engineers to understand technical issues impeding the critical path in real time, pull in the correct stakeholders for resolution, escalate blockers, and synthesize information into data for leadership consumption (overall status, help needed, and critical path impacts)
- Draft and maintain an operations budget, including a 3 year plan that predicts operations expense and capital expense to meet program goals
- Maintain key performance indices (equipment utilization, asset calibration, etc.) related to lab operations
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Technical Manager Jobs in Redmond: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a technical manager job in Redmond?
The strongest path into a technical manager role in Redmond runs through Redmond's dominant cloud and enterprise software employers, where internal promotions from senior engineering or program lead positions are common. Candidates who have shipped large-scale platform or infrastructure products gain an edge here. Familiarity with agile delivery at scale and experience leading cross-functional engineering teams are consistently valued by Redmond hiring managers over generalist management credentials.
Which companies hire technical managers in Redmond?
Redmond technical manager roles are posted by Amazon, Microsoft, and CBRE and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Redmond's employer base skews heavily toward large technology and gaming companies with deep engineering org structures, which means most openings come from established organizations rather than early-stage startups.
Are there remote technical manager jobs in Redmond?
Yes, though availability depends on the role type. Technical managers overseeing distributed software or cloud teams tend to have more remote flexibility, while roles tied to on-site hardware, lab, or operations teams are typically in-person. About 60% of technical manager openings tied to Redmond are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the area's strong presence in cloud and software development. Program and product-adjacent technical manager roles in Redmond lean most remote-friendly.
How can I get a technical manager job in Redmond with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Redmond is moving into a technical lead or engineering lead role at one of the area's larger technology employers, then transitioning into formal management after demonstrating scope ownership. Redmond's large gaming and cloud companies regularly hire senior individual contributors into lead tracks that evolve into people management. Building experience with roadmap ownership, cross-team coordination, and mentoring junior engineers makes that internal transition achievable without needing an outside management title first.
Which industries hire the most technical managers in Redmond?
Most technical manager openings in Redmond sit in Technology & Software, Retail, and E-Commerce & Online Marketplaces, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Redmond's concentration of major cloud platform and gaming studios creates sustained demand for technical managers who can lead complex engineering teams, making these sectors the primary drivers of local hiring volume.
