Mid Level Technical Sales Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level technical sales engineer job?
Position your experience around owned outcomes: deals you closed independently, technical evaluations you led, and revenue you influenced. Highlight depth in a specific product category or vertical, your ability to translate complex specs for non-technical buyers, and any cross-functional work with product or engineering teams. Applications that connect your existing work to measurable sales results move fastest at this level.
Which companies hire mid level technical sales engineers?
Companies hiring mid level technical sales engineers right now include Perplexity, Esri, and UVEye, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of established technology vendors, industrial manufacturers, and growth-stage software companies that need engineers who can carry a full sales cycle without close supervision.
Are there remote mid level technical sales engineer jobs?
Yes, though availability varies by industry and product complexity. About 38% of mid level technical sales engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how many employers now support distributed pre-sales work. Roles tied to hardware, lab equipment, or on-site demonstrations tend to require more in-person time than software-focused positions.
How do I move up to a mid level technical sales engineer role?
Growth from entry level into mid level comes from accumulating ownership, not just tenure. Build depth in a specific technology domain, take on progressively larger accounts, and document the revenue impact of your contributions. Demonstrating that you can run a proof-of-concept, handle objections independently, and collaborate with product teams on customer feedback signals readiness for mid level responsibility.
Which industries hire the most mid level technical sales engineers?
