Test Engineer Jobs in Colorado Springs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a test engineer job in Colorado Springs?
Start by targeting Colorado Springs defense contractors and aerospace firms, which drive the largest share of test engineer openings in the city. Roles concentrate in Briargate, the Powers Boulevard corridor, and near Peterson Space Force Base and Fort Carson. Candidates with experience in automated test equipment, hardware-in-the-loop testing, or MIL-STD compliance have a clear edge. A security clearance, even at the Secret level, opens significantly more doors in this market.
Which companies hire test engineers in Colorado Springs?
Companies currently hiring test engineers in Colorado Springs include Northrop Grumman, KBR, and Auria, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The local market is anchored by defense and aerospace primes alongside government contractors tied to the military installations that surround the city.
Are there remote test engineer jobs in Colorado Springs?
Yes, though availability depends on the type of work. Test engineering roles that involve hands-on hardware, lab equipment, or on-site government facilities rarely allow full remote work. About 34% of test engineer openings tied to Colorado Springs are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common for software-defined test automation and systems integration roles that don't require physical lab access.
How can I get a test engineer job in Colorado Springs with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Colorado Springs is through internships or junior quality assurance roles at defense or aerospace contractors, many of which run structured early-career programs. Look for titles like test technician, QA engineer I, or systems tester as stepping stones. Community College of Denver and UCCS both offer programs that local employers recognize. Obtaining a CompTIA or ISTQB certification before applying strengthens a résumé when hands-on experience is limited.
Which industries hire the most test engineers in Colorado Springs?
The sectors hiring the most test engineers in Colorado Springs are Aerospace & Defense, Technology & Software, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Colorado Springs' high concentration of military installations, defense contractors, and space industry employers makes it one of the denser markets for test engineers outside of a major coastal tech hub.
